Shout Them from the Mountain Tops II: Georgia Poems and Stories

                                                   UPDATE:

 The GCTE Board unanimously approved a second production of the GCTE sponsored book, Shout Them from the Mountain Tops: Georgia Poems, but this second anthology will also include stories and original art and photographs.  Editors and staff of the first Shout are already working to put all parts together, planning for a projected book out at the GCTE 2011 Convention at Callaway Gardens.  Members who readily agreed to do another Georgia Shout book include: Tom Liner, Writing Selection Committee Chair; Alan Perry, Layout Editor; John Knight, Production Editor/Chair of Photography Judging; Jane Knight, Editor; Hilde Holmes, Editor; Geri Davis, Art Consultant/Chair of Art Judging, and Jean Copland, General Editor; and Jim Cope, GCTE and shoutthemgcte@gmail.com Website Editor.

All writers and artists/photographers living in Georgia are invited to submit up to three of their original works never-before published in print.  See below for submission guidelines and more information.

                Shout Them from the Mountain Tops: Georgia Poems and Stories

                                          With Original Art and Photography

The Georgia Council of Teachers of English (GCTE), a non-profit organization of Language Arts educators) is producing the second Shout anthology and can offer no pay or prizes for work submitted, but will include work chosen for this second book.  Each writer, artist, and photographer will receive one copy of the book when it is published early in 2011.  Original, never- before-published poems, stories, art, and photographs will be judged by independent panels of qualified judges for each category submitted for this second Shout anthology.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Writers and Artists – 18 and over,  presently living in Georgia
  • Theme – None; any form/any medium, any topic suitable for a mixed audience
  • Fee – None
  • Copyright remains with those who submit work
  • Number of submissions – Maximum of 3 copies of original works, never-before published in print -- in any combination of poems, stories, art, or photos
  • Length of poems – Maximum of 40 lines, single spaced with 2 spaces between stanzas
  • Length of stories – Maximum of 1,500 words, double-spaced
  • Format for poems and stories  –  Black ink, 12 point type, Times New Roman font on white 8 1/2” X 11” copy paper; one poem per page; number pages at the bottom center of paper; place number of  lines for poems and number of words for stories at the top right edge of paper.
  • Email as Microsoft Word documents or send via US Post Office two (2) copies of each submission: Identify one copy with name, address, phone number, and email address at top, left edge of paper; no identification for the second copy.

ART (& PHOTOGRAPH) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Entries must be in JPEG format on a CD

2. Resolution 300dpi

3. Image no larger than 6" in any direction

4. Image should be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)

SPECIFICATIONS

1. Source material must be original and not copied from any image other than the artists' own resources.

2. MAIL in JPEG format on a CD via US Post Office two (2) copies of each submission:

Independent, qualified judging panels will judge poems, stories, art, and photography.
