Them . . . is published in celebration and promotion of poetry
reading and writing in The Year of the Poem (April 2003-April
2004) and of The Year of the Mountain (initiated by
the United Nations in 2001). The UN chose poetry as the continuing
international dialogue in promoting mountain ecology with annual
celebrations of reading Poetry from the Peaks and nearby
cities.
In addition
to having poets included who reflect a variety of topics, themes,
and styles of universal appeal---and who live in Georgia
from the mountains to the seaside and points in between---four
artists have enthusiastically contributed their considerable talents
in illustrating the poems selected for publication. All four artists
are National League of American Pen Women who are members and/ or
officers in the Columbus Branch of NLAPW, the Columbus Artists Guild,
and the Joseph House
Art Gallery.
The production
of this book has been a celebration in the making with the sincere
hope that more readers and writers will recognize the pleasure which
can be found in reading and writing poetry.
